#3. Vote in the presidential election 2009

Why?

Because I am a firm believer in “if you don’t vote, don’t complain about the outcome” and after two terms with Bush I have quite a lot of pent up emotion :O)  But truthfully my apathy has subsided a bit and I am getting too old to NOT vote consistently.  Do I think my vote really counts…nah…but people play the lottery with a slim to none chance of winning so here goes nothing!

Woo hoo…I am done!! No cool “I Voted” Sticker but satisfaction nonetheless.  Oh if you are wondering why there are so many stamp it is because I haven’t mailed anything in quite a long time and I have no idea what the postal rate is these days.  Also, after putting in all that work I wanted to make sure the damn thing got where it needed to go.

#2. Educate self on issues and vote in all election for things you care about

Why?

Because if you are going to do it do it well and right, especially since I am not only impacting my life, I am impacting the lives of many.  Unlike the presidential election, I don’t mind voting for propositions but I really have to know what they are talking about.  I am also trying to get over that whole apathy thing too.

Talk about a boring read.  I really had to buckle down and get through all those props…and their pros and cons…AND their rebuttals…AND THE REBUTTALS to the REBUTTALS.  That was a lot of work but I definitely feel like my vote has a larger impact their than on the overblown presidential election. It was nice that i didn’t really know which party supported which props, made me feel as though i was voting without any party pretenses…just the facts.

One horrible thing I did notice was that local representatives need to summarize and get to the facts of why I would want to vote for them and get over the warm fuzzy stuff.  Sometime I felt like I was reading their family history rather than what they plan to actually DO! I couldn’t imagine going into my workplace and telling them about my cats every meeting and expect to still have a job.

Anyway…Goal #2 Completed 10/26…for now…
