101 Here I Come

Things I can complete in 30 days

With only 30 days until the end of my 101 in 1001. I have returned to the list to check out what I have, have not, and can possible complete by my June 29th deadline. From that list I generated 10 things I think I may be able to achieve by then.

Just like the main list, these are goals but not mandates. Should be interesting to see what the next 30 days holds.

5. Join Match.com and be an active participant

11. Update my resume each year (0/3)

14. Buy and keep an up to date address book.

20. Restore Mother and Father photograph for Randy

23. Try out 15 tips/tricks/advice found in a magazine and adhere to it strictly (0/15)

38. Go visit my dad’s grave so I know where it is

73. Learn to cook 5 dishes from my mom and cook them for her (0/5)

80. Make a pair of perfectly fitting pants

84. Sew 2 Patrones magazine patterns (0/2)

87. Document a day in my life in pictures

#37. Plan a kid related weekend 6 times a year (3/15)

Why?

Because I really do need to spend time with my nieces and nephews. One of the major deterrents I have to taking care of kids is their attitude but ultimately I am in control of that to a large extent. Plus they are fun when we are doing things I wanna do…mwah ha ha

#54. Visit New York

Why?

Just because. I had been itching to see the garment district and yarn shops thinking it would have the same feeling as before. This trip was rather spur of the moment when my mom told me she was going. I hemmed and hawed but finally remembered that going to NY was one of my 101 in 1001 so off I went. The trip brought a bit of reality to be romanticized view on NY. As much as it is fun to visit especially with my mom. I can now take it off my repeat visit list.

#12. Buy a strapless bra and use it

Why?

Because I really do like strappy dresses and shirts but are afraid the girls might make a run for it. Turns out they don’t mind the strapless as long as they have some extra support to go along with it.

#81. Buy a new sewing machine

Why?

Because although I love my first machine, it just needs a bit more! Plus this one was such a great deal it nearly fell into my lap

Well, it is not exactly new, but it is new to me!! Definitely an upgrade from my Singer Prelude AND I got it for $15.00 at a garage sale during the best Saturday EVER! Can’t beat that!

#11. Update my resume each year (0/3) – This is a prime time to get this done…beginning of the year and one never knows what 2009 will bring

#46. Figure out how to manage finances better (stocks, 401K, investments) – I am taking one of the job “lunch and learns” to learn how to deal with your 401K in this bad economy

#59. Rejoin W.W. by 2009 and stay an active member for the remainder of 1001 days – COMPLETED 1/6/09!

#61. Lose 10 LBS – I restarted WW in January so this will be the first step of many

#83. Sew one item from each Burda Magazine - Need to get my booty sewing this month!

#92. Review “The List” once per month - I will review the list one time this month

#9. Say “Yes” to 10 things I don’t want to do, and then document the emotional outcome - Carry over from last month - I plan to start and possibly finish one thing I don’t normally do for people. I plan on knitting my coworkers wife a scarf.

#13. Buy an external hard-drive and back up my computer files and software – I bargained my way into getting this done because I got the blue screen of death on my computer and freaked out. I told myself if it just doesn’t die I would FINALLY get that harddrive. - COMPLETED

#20. Restore Mother and Father photograph for Randy – Carry over from last month – Because I have been saying I need to do this for AGES!

#70. Read 3 technical books on cooking – Carry over from last month – I plan to read the first chapter, approx. 100 pages of Cookwise by Shirley Corriher

Sub Goal Preparation or Planning

#40. Make a family photobook – I need to contact extended family members and request for them to send pictures or scans of pictures. Also I need to start categorizing pictures I have already scanned

#50. Have one month of bills in savings – Figure out what that total is and then create a plan to track this.

#69. Post to the food blog 71 times, approx. once per two weeks – The cooking and eating is going well, it is the posting that is lacking. I need to get on the ball with that

#76. Learn how to Crewel

Why?

Because I loved the pictures in The New Crewel and Virginia got me the book for Christmas 2007

This little bit of crewel work was completed for Virginia for Christmas. Which is befitting since she originally bought me the book. Have to say I love it and I will be doing more embroidery/crewel in the future.
